First National Bank’s South location will offer free document destruction on Saturday, April 30 from 9:00 a.m. until noon. Documents will be safely destroyed on site.
During these events, customers are encouraged to bring confidential documents to the bank’s South location, 1611 Honey Locust Drive in Northfield, for secure, on-site destruction and recycling.
Recycling important documents responsibly is a great way to protect yourself from identity theft. Items to consider for safe destruction: old bank statements, tax returns, canceled checks, financial statements, legal records, credit card statements, old receipts and confidential documents.
In light of many high-profile security breaches, we encourage customers to take advantage of these free events. Additional steps that should be taken to further protect yourself from identity theft include:
- Obtaining a free credit report.
- Signing up for credit monitoring – your first three months are free. After that, it’s just $5 per month for critical monthly account details and restoration services in the event that your personal information is compromised.
